FAQ - Creating a Defect from a Failed Test Case

When a manual Test Case fails, you can automatically create a Defect from the failed Test Case. The Edit Test Case form has a checkbox for "Automatically Generate Defect upon Failed Test Case".  Check this box. When the status on the Test Case is changed to Failed, when you Submit a new Defect will be creaated and will be linked to the Test Case.

You have the option to edit the new Defect, continue editing the Test Case, or return to the Test Case Listing.

When the status on the linked Defect is Closed, the Test Case is automatically Passed. (If you don't like this behavior, contact Support and we can change it for you.)

If you have "Automatically Generate Defect upon Failed Test Case" checked, your selection is remembered and all subsequent Test Cases automatically have this box checked. If you want to stop automatically created Defects from the failed Test Cases, uncheck the box - your uncheck will be remembered for subsequent Test Cases.
